Right, in at the deep end in more that one way.  First blog post ever and first caravan.

I'm starting this blog to try and document the repairs I'm carrying out to a caravan that I (me and the missus) bought last year.  It's far from new but I like it and after all the time I'm spending fixing it up we're bloody keeping it!

We were leaving the East Runton CCC site last May when the missus looked round the site as we drove out and said she thought a caravan might be nice.  Now, I've camped for years but have always swore I'd never get a caravan. For some reason I don't fully comprehend I too thought one might be a nice idea so I started looking on Ebay.  There was a nice looking one within our budget not far from us.  Lets go and have a look we thought, just to see what sort of thing we could afford.  Lots of paperwork with it, some of it original indicated it had been loved in the past.  By the end of the afternoon it was ours for the sum of £1500!

It appeared to be in good condition, I poked and prodded all over and only found a few minor problems, nothing that couldn't be easily fixed I thought.  It needed a new roof light and a couple of windows stays, both appeared to be victims of aged plastic.  We then towed it (another first!) to the in-laws drive so we could get to know our new caravan better.

Here it is, a 1992 Sprite Musketeer.  Four berth and it came with an almost new awning.  This picture is outside the sellers house before we towed it away.

The kitchen area with a nice bulging folder with all the paperwork in.

This one is on our second outing, to North Yorkshire.

So, there you are.  Our first caravan and so far so good.  In the next post I'll detail some of the early repairs I had to carry out before we could use the caravan.

Simon.
